Christmas markets in Schloesserland Sachsen

Every year, Burgk Castle warmly welcomes visitors to the serene Freital Castle Advent on the first and second weekends of Advent. The enticing aroma of mulled wine, Kräppelchen, gingerbread, bratwurst, and other seasonal delicacies fills the castle courtyard. Amid festive music, traders and craftsmen present their wares in beautifully decorated wooden huts. Children can enjoy activities like arts and crafts, archery, and a children's railway. Father Christmas makes an appearance on all four days, bringing a little surprise for the young ones. On the first weekend of Advent, the traditional Christmas exhibition by the Freital Municipal Collections opens, inviting visitors to come and marvel.

For the tenth time, a charming and intimate Christmas market will take place in and around the Graupa Hunting Lodge. The courtyard and castle will be beautifully adorned in festive decorations. Guests are invited to explore and enjoy as craftsmen, restaurateurs, and musicians offer opportunities to admire, listen, taste, and shop. The youngest visitors can delight in a carousel and take part in activities such as crafting, baking stick cakes, and meeting friendly alpacas.

For the 25th time, Colditz Castle sets the stage for the enchanting Fairytale Castle Christmas. Culture and crafts come alive in the historical ambiance, beautifully illuminated in the festive colors of the season. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere in the Hofstube by the tiled stove, explore the illuminated wooden huts offering culinary delights, or discover unique gifts in the vaulted cellars. The event also brings joy to children with magical appearances by Mother Hulda, captivating dance performances, and, of course, a visit from Father Christmas.

Experience the Christmas market in Leisnig on the historic church square of Mildenstein Castle. A grand festive pyramid stands at the heart of the market, surrounded by charming Christmas stalls, creating a warm and cozy pre-Christmas atmosphere.

On the second weekend of Advent, you can experience a special Christmas market at Schloss Wackerbarth - an atmospheric combination of craftsmanship, culture and enjoyment. Together with the Landesbühnen Sachsen as well as selected artisans and culinary partners from the region, we welcome you to the ‘Manufakturzauber’ in the unique ambience of Europe's first adventure winery. A colourful programme from the Landesbühnen Sachsen awaits all younger guests.

A charming Christmas market inviting visitors to observe, browse, and engage with traditional Upper Lusatian crafts. Both indoor and outdoor stalls offer a delightful array of jewelry, soaps, blue printing, textiles, pottery, diamond painting, Christmas gifts, savory and sweet treats, and much more. The Nikolausmanufaktur provides plenty of hands-on activities for all ages. Visitors can watch and participate in various crafts, while children can create angels with the artisans, try their hand at sewing, thread bracelets, print table runners, or design their own Christmas baubles. In the historic servants' kitchen, the wood-fired oven will be lit! Guests can bake butter biscuits together and decorate them as creatively as they wish.

On the second weekend of Advent, the annual Advent Festival takes place in the festive glow of Bad Elster, centered around the beautiful pyramid on the central spa grounds and the KunstWandelhalle. Visitors can enjoy the pre-Christmas atmosphere filled with the delightful scents of the season. The programme, designed for all ages, offers a wide range of Advent experiences, while Bad Elster sparkles in a unique display of lights throughout the Royal Gardens.

The Christmas market in the romantic setting at the foot of Mount Oybin is officially opened by the village mayor and his entourage. Young visitors can enjoy pony rides in good weather, while craft activities await in the Haus des Gastes. Father Christmas will also make an appearance. A living Advent calendar is beautifully displayed in the church. In the evening, a spectacular fire show takes place at the pond behind the Haus des Gastes.

But there are also stalls where two-legged visitors can shop for gifts. Food and drinks will be available for both humans and dogs, and our Christmas Angel has announced their arrival with presents for everyone!

For the 24th time, a charming and cozy Christmas market will take place around Zabeltitz Palace. Visitors can enjoy delicious mulled wine, culinary delights, traditional Saxon handicrafts, and offerings from regional exhibitors in the stunning setting of the Baroque garden. Lovingly decorated Christmas stalls featuring gifts, jewelry, and crafts invite families to take a leisurely stroll through the palace and gardens. Younger visitors can look forward to hands-on activities, including a visit to the Haase bakery's workshop for little confectioners. Father Christmas will also make an appearance, ready to hear the last-minute wishes of all the children.

The ‘Interessengemeinschaft Weinbergkirche Pillnitz e.V.’ is organising a small Christmas market with market activities and mulled wine for the third Advent at the vineyard church ‘Zum Heiligen Geist’ not far from Pillnitz Castle & Park. The church can be visited.

Experience Christmas as it was celebrated in the late 19th century—this is the theme of the Historic Castle Christmas. Rather than a traditional Christmas market, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the reflection and festivity of the season. The period of the 1880s and 1890s, marked by industrialization, the German Empire, and the rise of the middle class, comes to life. Explore crafts such as violin making, blacksmithing, brush making, and leather tanning. Don't miss the barber's shop and the gingerbread maker's workshop. The antiquarian bookshop and the toy shop with historical tin toys complete this enchanting journey into the past.

On the third Advent, the festively adorned Rochsburg Castle warmly invites you to its Advent market inside the museum. Regardless of the weather outside—be it stormy or snowy—visitors can leisurely explore a variety of stalls within the castle walls, discover unique Christmas gifts, craft in the Secret Santa workshop, savor the delightful aroma of punch, and fully embrace the joy of the holiday season. A cozy, festive atmosphere is guaranteed!

Historic Christmas Market with over fifty stalls featuring rare crafts, curated goods, and traditional games, as well as an authentic bathhouse experience. To complete the experience, a wide selection of food and drinks with a distinctly medieval flair is available to delight your senses.

The eventful Fortress Christmas provides a magical and atmospheric way to embrace the festive spirit on all four Advent weekends. With handcrafted stalls, traditional costumes and crafts, steaming copper kettles over open fires, a lively stage programme, live animals in the nativity scene, countless Herrnhut Stars, puppet theatre, and Germany's longest Advent calendar, Advent at Koenigstein is truly enchanting.
